Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve processing problems with injection molding machines
- Set-up and start-up Molding Machines and auxiliary equipment
- Improve quality and productivity of molded product by refining processing methods
- Relay pertinent product and quality-related information to Operators, Inspectors, Supervisors and peers - written and verbal
- New tool sampling - Process and evaluate new tooling. Document process, metrology and record necessary changes
- Train and mentor apprentices and other Molding Technician B' employees with a positive and supporting demeanor be present.
- Diagnose tooling problems and perform minor repairs
- Help to improve tool designs and work closely with Tool Designers and Tool Makers
- Document set-up information to ensure consistent quality
- Perform first shot inspections and confirm job is ready for production
- May troubleshoot electrical problems with dies and barrel heats, mix plastic resin with colorants and additives, relieve operators at break times, and engage in material handling
Education, Skills, and Experience
- Plastics apprenticeship and achieved journeymen's card and 5 years' experience and/or equivalent education and work history required
- Advanced certification in plastics-related disciplines preferred
- Advanced skills in metrology and the use of measuring equipment required
- Leadership quality communication and interpersonal skills required
- Proficient math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals
- Forklift certification required
