Modern Energy Management supports transition of Dam Nai windfarm in Vietnam
Emerging market specialist evaluates Vietnam project's operations process for SN Power

March 19, 2021

Modern Energy Management (MEM), a specialist in developing, building and operating investment grade renewable energy projects in emerging markets, announced that it is providing transition support for the 40MW Dam Nai wind project for SN Power Invest Netherlands BV.

MEM's scope of work, includes evaluation of the project's current operations and to support in the alignment of the project with SN Power's internal operations management processes, began at the end of November 2020.

The Dam Nai wind farm is the first wind project acquired by SN Power. Modern Energy was the lead technical advisor for the due diligence regarding that acquisition, and once completed, MEM will provide operations support during the transition period to evaluate the project's operations and align them with SN Power's internal operations management processes.

"Our focus with SN Power is to establish baselines for the wind farm operations to allow them to optimize the Dam Nai project's performance and revenue," stated Aaron Daniels, Managing Director of Modern Energy Management. "This includes evaluation of current operations management systems, gap analysis and recommendations for energy yield optimization. We want SN Power to get the best possible return on investment from this wind farm."

"MEM provides in depth analysis of wind farm operations and implements processes and tools to streamline the wind farm management while also training the Employer's team to continue identifying operational issues and risks after MEM's involvement."

Additional aspects of MEM's scope include commercial analysis of the Dam Nai wind facility to ensure no investment flaws were present. This includes an internal inspection of the turbines to validate their operational performance and quality. It also includes the review of processes for operations, maintenance, and asset management to identify gaps and provide mitigation measures to increase the wind farm efficiency and revenue.

Vietnam set a goal to achieve 800MW of installed capacity of wind energy by the end of 2020, up from a current 429MW capacity. Currently, only about 10% of its current energy supplied by renewable sources.
