TUCSON ELECTRIC POWER (TEP)
TEP Offers Business Incentives for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

April 1, 2020

Tucson Electric Power is advancing the electric vehicle (EV) charging network in Southern Arizona by introducing incentives for commercial customers that install EV charging stations on their premises.

Under TEP's new EV Smart Charging Program, businesses and multi-family housing complexes, as well as educational and nonprofit groups, can qualify for incentives that cover up to 85 percent of their cost of the purchase, installation and technical support of two to six Level 2 or DC fast charging ports.

Commercial customers located in lower-income areas, where the median income is at or below 80 percent of the Arizona median family income, qualify for the highest incentives.

The incentives will make it more affordable for commercial customers to purchase and install EV chargers to support cleaner electric transportation and meet their sustainability goals. EV chargers also can encourage customers to spend more time at a business.

"These new incentives will greatly offset the cost of installing EV chargers for businesses and help set them apart as innovative and sustainable leaders in the community," said Dallas Dukes, TEP Vice President of Energy Programs & Pricing. "Having EV charging ports at a place of business also helps attract and retain employees and customers."

By the end of 2022, TEP anticipates a total of 360 EV charging ports will be installed at hundreds of commercial locations throughout Tucson.

The program is similar to other incentives being offered by utilities nationwide to support the development of an EV charging infrastructure and adoption of electric vehicles.
