National Grid Issues Statement on Central Adirondack Microgrid Project

March 6, 2024

National Grid issued the following statement today (Feb 26) about the proposed Central Adirondack Microgrid Project:

National Grid and REV Renewables have made the decision to end their pursuit of the Central Adirondack Microgrid Project. Following extensive community engagement, the companies agreed that there were challenges in the planned location for the battery energy storage system.

The companies believe that battery energy storage projects are dependable, reliable and safe methods of supporting our customers, and a critical way of integrating clean energy into the grid. We look forward to the final report from the Governor's inter-agency working group that will inform the future of battery storage in New York for years to come.
