Description
According to the IEA, approximately 600 million people in sub-Saharan Africa do not have access to electricity. By 2040, it is estimated that 90% of those without electricity access will be living on the African continent. Of the portion that gains access by 2030, the IEA expects about 55% will do so via mini-grids or stand-alone systems.*

The 17th edition of the Microgrid Global Innovation Forum, 26-28 September 2023 in Barcelona, focuses on microgrid advances, case studies and applications for enabling electrification in remote, rural and off-grid environments. Organized by the Smart Grid Observer, the event brings together developers, project owners, non-governmental organizations, finance professionals and technology innovators interested in maximizing the effective use of hybrid renewable energy systems.
