SONOMA CLEAN POWER
$20 Million to Advance Geothermal Energy

October 14, 2026

Sonoma Clean Power and a coalition of public agencies, industry partners, and research institutions have secured $20 million in California state funding to advance geothermal energy development.

The funding will support work to expand next-generation geothermal technology and strengthen California's supply of clean, always-available power. Geothermal plays a critical role in the state's clean energy goals because it generates around the clock, unlike solar and wind.

Read the full announcement for details on the coalition partners, the scope of the work, and what the funding means for Sonoma and Mendocino counties.
