On September 3, 2024, the Energy Conservation and Management Division - New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department launched the Inflation Reduction Act Home Electric Appliance Rebates (HEAR).
The first phase of New Mexico's HEAR program will provide income-eligible residents with point-of-sale rebates up to $1,600 on self-installed insulation purchased at participating retailers. Additional phases will include additional energy efficiency and beneficial electrification measures with a maximum rebate total of $14,000 per household. Initially rebates will be available to homeowners below 80 percent Area Median Income (AMI) or participants in certain state or federal benefits programs, with later phases expanding eligibility to renters between 80 percent and 150 percent AMI.
