Endesa X receives the first prize for European Mobility Week from the Valencia Regional Government

September 23, 2020

Highlights

  • On Thursday, the awards for this fifth edition of the European Mobility Week (SEM) Awards, which are held annually throughout Europe (16 and 22 September), will be officially presented.
  • The awards, organised by the Regional Ministry of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility of the Valencia Regional Government are aimed at companies, municipalities and other institutions, and students that have implemented actions promoting sustainable mobility.
  • Endesa X has been given this award by the Valencian Community for its commitment to providing charging for all users and its work in developing an electric vehicle charging infrastructure network, thanks to its collaboration with local partners, such as the supermarket chain Consum and the Gas Express and BDMED service station networks, among others.
  • Endesa X is rolling out a large number of charging points in Valencia, implementing more than 150 in almost 50 municipalities (in urban and interurban settings), which are already operating or in the process of being installed.

Endesa X has received an award for its commitment to  electric mobility from the Valencia Regional Government at the awards ceremony it organises annually to coincide with European Mobility Week (SEM). This year it is being held between September 16 and 22.

These awards aim to highlight initiatives that help improve public health and the quality of life in the region, by promoting clean mobility and sustainable urban transport, and Endesa X's public infrastructure development plan has been chosen as an example. The official awards ceremony will be held this Thursday and will be chaired by the Minister for Regional Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi España García.

Endesa X's overall objective for electric mobility is to facilitate the change for those who decide to make it and, among other things, it is deploying a network of 8,500 publicly accessible charging points all over the country by 2023, with an investment of 65 million euros. The first 2,000 will have been installed by the end of this year along 15,000 kilometres of Spain's main roads, connecting cities with more than 35,000 inhabitants. It will now be possible to travel around this country without worrying about charging, as there will always be a charging point within 100 kilometres, which will guarantee that 75% of the population will have a public charging infrastructure in their own municipality.

Specifically, in the Valencian Community, Endesa X is carrying out a major roll-out to connect the Mediterranean corridor too, installing more than 150 recharging points in urban and interurban areas in about 50 municipalities, which are either already operating or in the process of being installed.

It is also made possible because of cooperation agreements with companies in Valencia and with a view to  rolling out the infrastructure where the end users will need it. Rapid chargers (about 20 minutes of charging time) are being installed in locations near main roads, mainly in service stations, thanks to agreements with the Gasexpress and BDMED service station networks.  And semi-rapid technology has been chosen (about 90 minutes of charging time) in more urban locations, where people spend more time, such as supermarkets, hence the agreement with the Valencian chain Consum, where infrastructure has already been installed in more than 50 establishments.
