With the commissioning of the Soleil de Balsac photovoltaic plant, the VSB Group has successfully completed another solar energy project. The 9.2 MWp facility was developed by its French subsidiary VSB France and built on a former clay and gravel extraction site in the municipality of Druelle Balsac, located in the Aveyron department.
The ground-mounted solar plant, with an installed capacity of 9.2 MWp, consists of 16,740 solar modules and generates approximately 10,550 MWh of electricity annually - enough to supply around 5,000 French households. With annual CO savings of over 2,500 tonnes, the plant makes a direct contribution to achieving the EU's climate targets. This reduction is equivalent to the annual emissions of around 250 average Central European households.
"Europe aims to reach 600 GW of solar capacity by 2030 - a goal that can only be achieved through innovative projects and decisive implementation. Soleil de Balsac demonstrates how VSB contributes: we transform disused land into future hubs of the energy transition - scalable, sustainable, and developed in close collaboration with local regions," explains Dr. Felix Grolman, CEO of the VSB Group.
Maël Lagarde, Managing Director of VSB France, adds: "This project enabled us to make productive use of a previously unused site and to provide a valuable contribution to the region's energy supply - an outstanding achievement."
Soleil de Balsac is part of VSB Group's growing solar portfolio. In Germany, for example, the company is currently working with the municipal utility Stadtwerke Bitterfeld-Wolfen on the 19.3 MWp "Löberitz" photovoltaic park. In Poland, VSB is developing one of the country's largest combined solar and battery storage projects, with a capacity of approximately 300 MWp. Additionally, a hybrid park integrating wind, solar and storage technology is also being planned in Puutionsaari, Finland.
With these projects, VSB continues to successfully pursue its mission to advance renewable energy expansion in Europe through cross-technology, site-specific solutions.
