GDC will develop new concepts and improve its facilities to enhance future capacity building in geothermal technology in Africa, the Managing Director & CEO Eng. Johnson P. Ole Nchoe has promised.
The MD also added that the move will ensure that every African interested in geothermal technology can get the best platform to learn from.
He made the comments last week, in a speech read on his behalf by Dr. Thecla Mutia, a Senior Scientist, Environment, during the graduation ceremony for students who have been undergoing a three-week training in geothermal technology in Naivasha.
"The future of this training programme is very promising and bright. There will be more such trainings at higher levels than before," he said noting that the graduands were GDC's ambassadors in the region.
The training was being implemented with support from the African Union - AFREC, and United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) through GDC and KenGen, under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy.
A total of 22 students from 11 African countries were trained on various aspects of geothermal development.
