TURBODEN
A 5.5 MW electric ORC power plant connected to the grid in Bavaria

February 3, 2016

On January 13th, Turboden connected to the grid its up to 5.5 MW electric ORC power plant delivered to GKT Geothermische Kraftwerkgesellschaft Traunreut GmbH, a company which operates a geothermal well in Bavaria, Germany. In addition to electrical generation, the ORC will supply up to 12 MW of thermal power to the community of Traunreut.
In 2014, Turboden signed a contract in consortium with TH Arens for the construction of the complete ORC unit connected to the district heating system.

Thanks to thirty-five years of experience in ORC turbogenerator design, Turboden provided GKT the best-optimized configuration for a specific low-temperature geothermal resource of 118°C.

The close location of the Turboden German branch based in Kirchseeon will grant GKT a local service team. This new project is a representation of Turboden's commitment to innovation and performance improvement in ORC technology.

The 5.5 MW Traunreut plant is the fourth geothermal unit installed in Germany, confirming Turboden the leader in geothermal power capacity in the country with its 20 MWe fleet. Turboden's geothermal fleet currently accounts for 10 plants (49 MW gross), with locations in Turkey, Europe, and Japan.
