200 stores and CTT Distribution Centers become neighbors of EDP Solar Communities

September 4, 2025

Correios de Portugal announce a new phase of their strategic partnership, which will integrate about 200 CTT stores and distribution centers as neighbors of EDP Solar Neighborhoods. This initiative represents a decisive step to democratize access to clean energy and accelerate the company's energy transition, enabling more CTT facilities to be powered with renewable energy, even those that, due to physical limitations, cannot produce their own solar energy.

By becoming neighbors of the Solar Neighborhoods, these stores receive economic and environmental benefits of participating in a community where energy is produced locally by other EDP partner companies, many of them small and medium-sized enterprises with space to install solar panels and that already integrate these neighborhoods. This innovative model reinforces the joint commitment of both companies to the country's decarbonization.

This contract reinforces the partnership established in 2022, which has already allowed the installation of more than 20 plants in CTT locations from North to South of the country. These plants are prepared to share the benefits with the surrounding communities and have the potential to reach more than four thousand families and small businesses.

With this new phase, the CTT simultaneously becomes producers and neighbors of EDP Solar Neighborhoods - a solution that reinforces the role of energy communities as engines of inclusion, allowing any citizen or company, regardless of their location or investment capacity, to benefit from solar energy.

Besides enabling more companies and families to access the benefits of renewable energy, EDP Solar Neighborhoods producers save up to 60% on the cost of self-consumed energy, and neighbors can achieve a reduction of about 30% in the monthly cost of that same energy.

The partnership between two strategic companies for Portugal - EDP, a leader in energy transition, and CTT, with one of the largest logistics operations in the country - demonstrates the importance of strong alliances between key companies to accelerate national decarbonization. They have also celebrated an agreement for the installation of the largest private electric mobility network in the country: in the first phase, more than 580 charging points were installed across over 100 CTT locations from North to South of the country, and this year, this partnership was reinforced with more than 200 additional charging points. This network of electric chargers daily supplies a fleet of more than 1100 electric and hybrid vehicles, powered by green energy provided by EDP.

These projects are aligned with CTT's sustainability priorities. CTT has taken on the goal of decarbonizing its activity with a 55% reduction in total carbon emissions by 2030, compared to 2021, through energy efficiency, fleet electrification, and investment in cleaner, renewable energies. For EDP, the expansion of the Solar Neighborhoods reflects the ambition to place communities at the center of the energy transition, making solar energy accessible to all and accelerating decarbonization across the entire national territory.
