The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is seeking public input as we conduct an environmental review to evaluate the potential environmental effects of constructing, operating and maintaining a proposed 200-megawatt solar facility and 20-megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS) in Tupelo, Mississippi, along State Highway 348 east of New Albany, Mississippi. In addition to the No Action Alternative, TVA will evaluate the Action Alternative of purchasing power from the proposed Jugfork Solar Project.
The proposed project solar panel coverage would occupy approximately 1,000 acres of the overall approximately 1,700-acre project area that is owned or leased by Competitive Power Ventures (CPV). The scope of the project also includes the upgrade of 6.4 miles of transmission line.
The comment period begins on September 5, 2024, and TVA will accept comments through October 7, 2024, on the scope of the environmental review and environmental issues that should be addressed in the document. Comments received, including names and addresses, will become part of the administrative record and will be available for public inspection. More information is available at tva.com/nepa. Comments can be submitted by email to nepa@tva.gov, submitted online at tva.com/nepa or mailed to:
