Green Mountain Power (GMP) is inviting customers to check out electric vehicles (EVs) up close at multiple events this fall. From Montpelier to Manchester, Bristol to Bennington, GMP is teaming up with local energy committees and communities to offer events where customers can learn about driving electric from GMP customers and GMP experts. You can try multiple EV models in a no pressure environment that's all about answering questions and sharing the benefits of driving an EV.
"These are great events because customers bring their own EVs for folks to check out, and so they can share their own experiences driving electric in Vermont in all seasons. Where else can you go and check out all kinds of different EVs in one place? Plus, EVs are just fun to drive and cheaper to own! We love helping people make the switch away from fossil fuel," said Tiana Smith, who is Head of Electrification at GMP.
EVs are cheaper to drive than traditional fossil fuel vehicles. You save thousands of dollars over the life of the car because there is no combustion engine - so there is less maintenance and much lower fuel' costs. With GMP's discount home EV charging rates, it is like paying $1 per gallon of gas. GMP also offers up to $2,500 in rebates for customers switching from fossil fuel. The savings can be stacked with state rebates of up to $4,000 and federal tax credits up to $7,500 on some models. Transportation is the top source of carbon pollution in Vermont, so switching to an EV is the top action you can take to cut carbon, on top of the money you will save.
