Atlantic City Electric Energy Efficiency Efforts Recognized by EPA and DOE for Helping Customers Save Money and Energy
Programs receive national recognition after their first full year in operation

March 29, 2023

Atlantic City Electric has received national recognition for the significant impacts its energy efficiency programs are having in helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and in saving customers on their energy bills. The company has received the 2023 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). This is a major achievement following the first full year of operation of these programs in support of Atlantic City Electric's South Jersey customers.

"Energy efficiency is one of biggest components to the comprehensive approach to addressing the impacts of climate change and as we continue to move toward a cleaner energy future," said Morlon Bell-Izzard, senior vice president and chief customer officer for Pepco Holdings. "Our energy efficiency programs provide customers small and large with the tools and resources they need to make more informed decisions about their energy use, ultimately helping them save energy and make their electric service more affordable."

"As we accelerate historic efforts to address climate change, public-private partnerships will be essential to realizing the scale of our ambition," said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. "I applaud this year's ENERGY STAR award winners for working with EPA to deliver a clean energy future that saves American consumers and businesses money and creates jobs."

Atlantic City Electric's energy-saving programs have produced 57,923 megawatt-hours in energy savings since being launched in July 2021. These savings are equivalent to greenhouse gas emissions avoided by 25,098,641 incandescent bulbs switched to LED bulbs or CO2 emissions from 83,415 homes' energy use for one year. Customers can visit atlanticcityelectric.com/WaysToSave to learn more about these programs.

Atlantic City Electric sister Exelon utilities BGE in Baltimore, ComEd in Chicago, Delmarva Power in Delaware, PECO in Philadelphia and Pepco in Washington D.C. were also honored for ongoing and committed leadership to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency programs and actions.

Each year, the ENERGY STAR program honors a group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy achievements. ENERGY STAR Award Winners lead their industries in the production, sale and adoption of energy-efficient products, services and strategies. These efforts are essential to fighting the climate crisis and protecting public health.

Winners are selected from a network of thousands of ENERGY STAR partners. For a complete list of 2023 winners and more information about ENERGY STAR's awards program, visit energystar.gov/awardwinners.
