ELECTRIC CIRCUIT
Eleven fast-charge stations for electric vehicles in Gaspésie and Bas-Saint-Laurent

July 13, 2016

The Electric Circuit is delighted to announce the installation of 11 fast-charge stations in the Gaspésie and Bas-Saint-Laurent regions. The stations will be commissioned this summer, allowing electric vehicle drivers to tour the entire coast of the Gaspé Peninsula, from Matane to Amqui.

Spearheaded by Dany Bergeron, a pharmacist and the President of the Corporation de développement de Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis, this initiative aims to support the growing number of plug-in vehicles in Gaspésie and Bas-St-Laurent. The project was made possible with the financial assistance of Hydro-Québec, the Québec government, and the Corporation de développement de Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis as well as its regional partners. The 11 stations will be installed in Matane, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis, Grande-Vallée, Gaspé, Percé, Chandler, Paspébiac, New Richmond, Pointe-à-la-Croix and Amqui.

"I am very proud of this new step toward securing our vision for transportation electrification, a vision that combines environmental protection and technological innovation. Today's (July 12) announcement marks an important milestone in the roll-out of the infrastructure needed to increase the number of electric vehicles in Québec. The installation of these stations is perfectly in line with the energy transition espoused in our government's 2030 Energy Policy and its Transportation Electrification Plan," said Minister Sébastien Proulx.

"Electric vehicles represent the best solution for reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the environment. I am convinced that the region's network of fast-charge stations will persuade many drivers to opt for electric vehicles, while being an economic generator of regional development. Thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible," added Dany Bergeron, President of the Corporation de développement de Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis.

"The Electric Circuit wishes to highlight the leadership of Mr. Bergeron of the Corporation de développement de Saint-Maxime-du-Mont-Louis in completing this important project that contributes to transportation electrification in Québec. We wish to thank all the project's partners for their trust in the Electric Circuit and we salute the investment they are making to offer plug-in vehicle drivers a fast-charge network in the region," said Éric Martel, President and CEO of Hydro-Québec.
