Responding to today's announcement by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Alok Sharma to grant consent to Ørsted's 2.4GW Hornsea Project Three offshore wind farm, RenewableUK's Chief Executive Hugh McNeal said:
"This is excellent news on New Year's Eve. Today's landmark announcement on Hornsea Project Three means the UK is taking a significant step closer towards our net zero emissions target. Investing in large scale offshore wind power is good for our environment and our economy, boosting productivity and creating thousands of high-quality jobs. Green growth will be vital to support our long-term economic recovery in the years ahead. This major project will also help us to maintain our global lead in offshore wind, as well as building up our UK supply chain".
