NV Energy is extending the deadline for applications to the company's Expanded Solar Accept Program (called ESAP) and re-opening applications for additional groups of customers in the Eligible Premises and Disadvantaged Business/Nonprofit categories as these additional groups can still receive the benefits of ESAP through the end of 2026. Current customers enrolled in that program will get direct communication from NV Energy on how to re-apply. NV Energy is extending the application deadline to November 30, to allow currently enrolled customers time to submit the required paperwork.
The ESAP program allows customers to tap into solar energy at no added cost, with no solar panels required. Low-income eligible customers who participate in this program are guaranteed a lower rate for energy than the standard rate.
To be eligible to participate, low-income customers must show proof of income and may not have an income of more than 80 percent of the Area Median Income based on guidelines published by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. More information on qualifications is available at nvenergy.com/esap.
In 2025, low-income ESAP participants have seen an average savings of 9 to 10 percent on the portion of their bill related to how much energy they use, depending on their customer rate. Program enrollment has grown steadily since applications first opened in the fall 2021 for the 2022 calendar year.
Applying to the program does not guarantee enrollment. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the capacity limit for a category, a lottery will be held in December to select applicants to participate in the program.
