RESkill4NetZero project launches to develop trainings and boost clean energy careers

April 28, 2025
On 31 January, the RESkill4NetZero project, funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme, officially kicked off with a vibrant and collaborative meeting among project partners.

The RESkill4NetZero project will aim to close critical skills gaps in the renewable energy sector, by developing a comprehensive skills strategy, a flexible vocational education and training (VET) programme, and an EU-recognised certification framework which will enhance worker mobility and employability across EU Member States.

The project launch meeting began with introductions among the consortium members, followed by a detailed presentation of the project's structure and objectives. Among the key priorities discussed was the need to strengthen skills partnerships in order to effectively address workforce gaps across the renewable energy sector.

Paolo Zancanella, Project Officer at the European Commission's European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), also participated in the meeting, highlighting the strategic relevance of the RESkill4NetZero project.

The RESkill4NetZero project is intended to support the Renewable Energy Skills Partnership. The Association of European Renewable Energy Research Centres (EUREC), GCP Europe, and SolarPower Europe are coordinating the work of the Renewable Energy Skills Partnership with the support of the European Commission, which was created as part of the European Commissions' Pact for Skills, the institution's flagship European Skills Agenda initiative. It will identify the skills measures needed to deliver our climate and energy security goals.

SolarPower Europe will lead on communications as part of the RESkill4NetZero project, and focus on encouraging the adoption of the VET training programmes, ensure the dissemination of project results and best practices, and promote the renewable energy sector as a career choice for everyone.
