Verogy, a West Hartford-based solar energy developer committed to delivering industry-leading renewable energy solutions, today (Dec 11) announced the successful completion of two solar installations on the rooftops of FedEx facilities in Stratford (866 kW) and Middletown (2,075 kW), CT, FedEx's first solar projects in the state. These state-of-the-art systems, comprised of over 5,300 solar panels/modules in total, are designed to reduce the facilities' carbon footprint while providing a reliable source of clean, zero-emission energy.
Combined, the solar projects are expected to generate over 3,468,700 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy annually, which is enough to power 321 homes for a year.[1] This clean energy generation will offset approximately 2,423 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to the emissions produced by an average passenger vehicle driven nearly 6.2 million miles each year.
"It has been a privilege to work with FedEx on these impactful solar projects," said William Herchel, CEO of Verogy. "By embracing renewable energy, FedEx is not only making strides in reducing its carbon footprint but also setting a powerful example for other businesses on how to mitigate the effects of climate change. We are proud to have developed FedEx's first Connecticut solar installations and look forward to seeing the long-term positive impact these projects will have on our environment."
"Rooftop solar installations like these two are part of FedEx efforts to source more electricity from renewable energy," said Lonnie Mattison, manager, Sustainability and Global Vehicles, FedEx. "In working with Verogy to bring our first-ever solar projects in the state of Connecticut online, our facilities in Stratford and Middletown are helping pave the path toward our goal of carbon neutral operations by 2040."
Verogy is dedicated to helping businesses like FedEx take tangible steps toward their sustainability goals by demonstrating that clean energy can be both a smart financial investment and a crucial environmental strategy.
