AGL to power Plenti of Aussie homes with renewables

January 28, 2022
AGL has today (Jan 27) announced a partnership with fintech lender Plenti Group Limited, with plans to offer customers an interest free payment plan for renewable products like residential solar batteries and solar battery bundles.

The partnership will help more AGL customers access renewable products for the home with interest free finance.

AGL Chief Customer Officer, Christine Corbett said the interest free finance offer would simplify customers' path to purchase as they explore renewable energy options.

"We understand that the initial cost of renewable products for the home can be a significant investment, but this partnership provides customers with more options as in the long run many consumers who invest in renewable products return savings through reduced household energy bills," Ms Corbett said.

"We want to put power into the hands of our customers and provide more flexibility, affordability and choice when it comes to their energy solutions.

"Initially, interest free financing will be available across AGL's residential solar batteries and solar battery bundles with finance of up to $30,000 and flexible repayment terms.

"By enabling customers to purchase these renewable products, they're then able to take part in our virtual power plant (VPP), a network of connected solar batteries where energy is stored to support the electricity system.

"Customers that join and contribute to our VPP may be eligible for a sign-on bonus or ongoing bill credits for allowing AGL to access power stored by their batteries, usually during times of peak electricity demand.

"With more choice on offer, we hope to see more customers make the switch to renewable products and further support Australia's energy transition.

"We know that making these renewable products affordable is an important step in empowering our customers to take part in Australia's journey to a clean energy future."

Plenti CEO Daniel Foggo said: "We're proud to be partnering with AGL to help make purchasing solar and battery systems more affordable. This partnership will help Australian households transition more rapidly to a net zero future."

The zero interest finance offer will be available for solar battery bundle and solar battery products from 1 February 2022.
