The International Hydropower Association (IHA) has launched a new campaign to mark its 30th anniversary, celebrating the progress made in sustainable hydropower development since its founding in 1995.
The campaign hub features an interactive timeline tracing the pathway to IHA's founding at a UNESCO Assembly meeting in November 1995, and highlighting the sector's collective journey in advancing sustainable hydropower and supporting global climate goals.
The page will continue to grow throughout the year, with impact stories shared by IHA's members around the world, and a look ahead to the challenges and opportunities of the next 30 years.
Throughout 2025, IHA will also mark the anniversary with a series of campaign activities, including a celebration moment at the International Forum on Pumped Storage Hydropower in Paris on 9-10 September. The celebrations will continue at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, with the UN Climate Conference also marking its 30th year in 2025.
IHA's anniversary year is being shared with two Global Renewable Energy partners: the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), which is marking its 20th anniversary this year, and the Global Solar Council (GSC), which turns 10. Together, the three organisations represent a strong coalition for accelerating the global clean energy transition.
