Goldilocks advances sustainability journey with RE-powered Pangasinan supply hub from First Gen

October 29, 2026

Goldilocks Bakeshop, Inc. (Goldilocks), the country's largest bakeshop chain, deepens its sustainability collaboration with the First Gen Group (First Gen), the Philippines' leading renewable energy producer, to directly supply its commissary in Pangasinan with renewable energy, using a combination of geothermal and solar power.

The expanded partnership between First Gen and Goldilocks is part of the latter's initiatives to save on electricity costs and support its sustainability goals through increased use of renewable energy in running its facilities. The Goldilocks Pangasinan plant, operating under Richbake Inc., has fully energized its 494-kilowatt-peak capacity on-site rooftop solar facility following its inauguration last July 10.

Installed and being operated by First Gen, the photovoltaic (PV) project complements geothermal power that First Gen has been supplying to the plant since 2022. First Gen gets the power supply for the Goldilocks Pangasinan facility from its BacMan geothermal power station in Bicol.

The Goldilocks Pangasinan plant, located in the town of Rosales, serves as the main production and supply hub for almost 200 Goldilocks Bakeshop outlets in Northern Luzon.

"We recognize that responsible growth requires responsible operations. We're proud that our Richbake Inc facility in Pangasinan now makes full use of renewable geothermal and solar energy," said Jerson G. Uy, Goldilocks chief operating officer.

"Since we started trial solar energization at our Pangasinan facility, we noticed gradual reduction in our electricity costs. We have been able to better manage our costs despite higher fuel prices as we increased our utilization of solar power, along with geothermal energy. Our combined use of solar and geothermal power supports our efforts to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainability of our business and the communities we serve," Uy added.

"Energy efficiency solutions can help make better use of electricity not just helping manage costs, but also carbon emissions from operations. It is an honor to partner with the iconic Goldilocks in their sustainability journey," said Mark Malabanan, First Gen Energy Solutions vice president for solar and commercial business development.

Goldilocks was founded in 1966 and has since grown into the Philippines' largest bakeshop chain with over 1,000 stores around the Philippines. First Gen is the leading RE producer in the Philippines, with 1,700 megawatts of generating capacity from 31 hydro, geothermal, solar and wind facilities nationwide.

The First Gen Group also supports a wide range of industries by offering solutions to rationalize their energy consumption. These solutions include the installation of on-site solar PV facilities and remote energy monitoring systems, as well as the conduct of energy audits.
