COQUITLAM
More EV Charging Stations Coming to Coquitlam

July 8, 2019

Drivers of electric vehicles will have more options for charging in Coquitlam, with a new dual-port charging station at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex and additional access to charging stations at City Hall.

In addition to the new charging station at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex, City Council has approved the installation of approximately six dual-port stations throughout the city by the end of 2019.

Parking Spaces for Active Charging
One new dual-port charging station was installed in the parking lot of Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex and is available for use with a nominal user fee. The dual-port charging stations at City Hall are located in the covered visitor parking on the ground floor with access from Burlington Drive. Stalls at both locations are only available to electric vehicles that are actively charging.

All public electric vehicle charging station locations can be found at www.plugshare.com.

New User Fee
In order to encourage turnover at the charging stations and support related costs, the City is implementing parking fees of $1 per hour for the first two hours and $5 per hour for any time after two hours. Fees are paid through the ChargePoint app, which can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play. Visit www.chargepoint.com for more information.

Climate Action Initiatives
The City is pursuing its Climate Action Charter commitments to reduce greenhouse gases by providing public electric-vehicle charging in order to support the transition to low-emission electric vehicles.  For more information, visit www.coquitlam.ca/climateaction.
