ENGIE Achieves Financial Closure for 250 MW Khaba Solar Project in Rajasthan

August 10, 2026

ENGIE, a global leader in low carbon energy and services, today (July 24, 2026) announced the successful financial closure of its 250 MW Khaba Solar Project in Barmer, Rajasthan. The project is being developed through Khaba Renewable Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ENGIE, and marks another important milestone in the company's commitment to accelerating India's clean energy transition.

Once commissioned, the project is expected to generate approximately 650 GWh of clean electricity annually and help avoid nearly 180 kilo tonnes of CO emissions every year. Beyond clean energy generation, the project is expected to create local employment opportunities during construction while contributing to regional economic development in Rajasthan. In line with ENGIE's approach across its sites, a substantial share of these opportunities, around 80% is expected to benefit people from local communities

The project has secured financing from leading global financial institutions, reflecting their continued confidence in ENGIE's execution capabilities and India's rapidly expanding renewable energy sector. The financial closure supports the project's next phase of development, with construction expected to be completed by Q3 2026.

Commenting on the milestone, Amit Jain CEO & Country Manager India, Managing Director Renewables & Batteries SEA, ENGIE said: "The next phase of India's energy transition will be defined by the ability to translate ambitious targets into high quality infrastructure at scale. The financial closure of the Khaba Solar Project marks another important step in that journey and reflects ENGIE's confidence in India's long term renewable energy growth story. We remain focused on delivering projects that combine execution excellence with operational reliability, while creating long term value for customers, local communities and the broader energy ecosystem. Every project we deliver strengthens the foundation for a cleaner, more resilient and energy secure future."

The Khaba Solar Project further strengthens ENGIE's growing presence in India, where the company continues to expand its portfolio across solar, wind, battery storage and integrated renewable energy solutions. Through continued investment, strong execution and long-term partnerships, ENGIE remains committed to supporting India's transition towards a cleaner, more resilient and sustainable energy future.
