Site work is nearly complete at the Whitehorse grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS), with all battery modules installed. The project is now in the commissioning phase, which includes:
- Addressing pre-certification deficiencies
- Achieving site certification
- Full site energization
- Final testing
It takes time to integrate the batteries into the system, so we expect this work to continue over the winter. As such, Yukon Energy will not be relying on the BESS as dependable capacity this year.
