Twelve states have energy storage procurement goals, mandates or targets. The first state to establish an energy storage procurement goal was California in October 2013, and the most recent state to do so was Rhode Island in June 2024. State goals vary by size and target date. The states also vary in how close they are to meeting their goals.
CESA will keep this table updated regularly, pulling from both federal and state data sources.
CESA also tracks state 100% clean energy goals and, via the Offshore Wind Power Hub, state offshore wind goals and installation status.
