As we look forward to the new year, let's reflect and celebrate the incredible impact New Orleans residents made last year. From single-family homes to apartment communities, thousands of residents across the city took steps toward energy efficiency. That means lower monthly bills, a smaller carbon footprint and a more comfortable home year-round.
Energy savings that matter
In 2025, Energy Smart continued to empower residents to reduce energy use, save money and support our community. Here's a snapshot of the impact from residential customers.
- Participation: Reached over 9,000 households through free home energy assessments, weatherization services, rebates and discounts on efficient home appliances.
- Energy savings: Saved over 23 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, lowering utility bills and easing strain on the grid.
- Environmental impact: Avoided emissions equivalent to removing 3,000 gasoline-powered cars from the road for one year or recycling 1.1 million trash bags instead of sending them to landfills contributing to a healthier environment for all New Orleanians.
- Community support: Participated in 122 community events including info sessions and our first neighborhood events in five neighborhoods across the city to help residents learn more about Energy Smart.
