Ilmatar's Sustainability Review 2024 has been published today. In this latest release, we address the key environmental, social, and corporate responsibility themes defined by our stakeholders as essential to our business.
Our Sustainability Review 2024 follows internationally recognized guidelines and standards for corporate sustainability reporting. The review has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) sustainability reporting standards and is published in both Finnish and English. In our environmental section, we present Ilmatar's climate impacts calculated according to the GHG Protocol.
"Sustainability is at the core of our entire business, and therefore, improving our reporting is also important to us. During the reporting period, we refined our monthly sustainability reporting on the environmental and social impacts of our parks' production", says Ilmatar's Chief Legal and Human Resources Officer, Anna-Maria Palmroos.
We Continued to Accelerate the Clean Transition and Create a More Sustainable Future
With increased renewable energy production, our positive climate impact grew by 155% from the previous year. This is primarily due to the commissioning of our new wind farms, which have significantly increased our production capacity and enabled the replacement of even more fossil energy production.
We strengthened our collaboration with companies in our value chain regarding environmental and social responsibility. Human rights and supply chain security are identified as key topics in our double materiality analysis. Since the risks associated with these topics mainly materialize in our supply chains, we helped our suppliers improve their operations and responsibility through audits.
In 2025, we will continue to implement our refined strategy and enhance our operations as an independent electricity producer, utilizing the best available technology. We aim to accelerate the clean transition even more efficiently and prepare to report on the current year in accordance with applicable national legislation.
