Iberdrola España launches ATuAire to boost aerothermal energy with solutions to electrify heating and hot water.

Iberdrola España, the Spanish subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group, reinforces its commitment to the electrification of heat and launches ATuAire, a company specialising in aerothermal energy in Spain, which aims to spearhead and facilitate access to this energy solution to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, helping to improve air quality and reduce dependence on foreign sources of energy.

Heat accounts for 41% of final energy consumption in Spain. The European directive on buildings' energy performance requires all new buildings, both public and private, to be zero-emissions by 2030, extending this requirement to all buildings, both new and existing, by 2050.

Aerothermal energy is a heat pump that uses the energy from the outside air to produce heating in winter, cooling in summer, and hot water all year round. This sustainable technology is four times more efficient than a conventional fossil fuel boiler and helps the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.

The new company, focused on the tertiary, industrial and residential community sector, designs turnkey customised solutions combining the most efficient technologies with each client's specific needs.

ATuAire also offers the possibility of increasing savings from the installation of aerothermal energy by combining it with the thermal insulation of façades and roofs, which reduces energy consumption and increases residents' feeling of comfort, and with own producing and consuming solar, a solution that also increases independence from fossil fuels as it allows 100% renewable energy to be consumed close to the source.
