NEBRASKA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT
NPPD recognizes 11th Annual National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day

October 9, 2025

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) joins the nation in celebrating the 11th annual National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day, which marks the progress of the industry by raising awareness of the benefits hydrogen energy and fuel cell technologies provide in reducing emissions, while also driving economic growth.

National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day is observed on Oct. 8 (10.08) in recognition of the atomic weight of hydrogen - 1.008.  Hydrogen is already providing fuel, feedstock, and power to wide-ranging sectors of the U.S.

"Hydrogen is a technological solution available today that is flexible, domestically sourced and capable of being deployed across multiple sectors critical to our economy and national defense," said NPPD Generation Research Senior Program Manager Roman Estrada. "NPPD continues to evaluate the cutting-edge advancements in the energy industry, including the usage of hydrogen for use in generation assets, both current and new, along other possible hydrogen use options. NPPD is proud to join our energy colleagues in commemorating National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day and celebrating the remarkable innovation and progress made in this industry."
