GreenFire Energy Inc. Appoints Oil and Gas Industry Executive, Robert M. Pilko to Advisory Board
Blade Energy Partners Executive Brings Upstream Oil and Gas Industry Expertise to Renewable Geothermal Company

May 12, 2020

GreenFire Energy Inc. today (5/7) announced the appointment of   Robert M. Pilko to its Advisory Board. Bob is a seasoned executive with 42 years in the upstream oil and gas industry in oilfield services, operations, technology, management, and consulting. Bob's expertise will guide GreenFire Energy's efforts to develop and deploy geothermal energy solutions for oil and gas companies as they transition to increase production of renewable energy.

As the Strategic Relationships Director for Blade Energy Partners, Bob leads advanced projects with super major operators (BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Total), international operators (BHP, Lukoil, Repsol), North American operators (Devon, Husky, Suncor), and research organizations. Bob has managed a wide range of projects including: drilling to the earth's mantle; developing deepwater technologies for safety and well integrity; designing high pressure, high temperature wells; developing geothermal deep wells; and addressing natural gas storage issues. Current interests include hydrogen energy development, water resource preservation, and CO2 applications. Bob served as the U.S. General Manager for Precision Drilling's Northland affiliate, Production Services Coordinator for Paris-based Geoservices, and Executive VP for Stric-Lan Companies Corporation. At Schlumberger, Bob held technical and management roles at Flopetrol Schlumberger and its company divisions in Houston, Lafayette, Edmonton, Singapore, Jakarta and other locations.

Bob is actively involved in industry organizations including the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN), American Petroleum Institute (API), American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). As an invited speaker on the potential of geothermal energy, he has presented at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), SMU Geothermal Laboratory, EUCI, Energy Utility and Environment Conference, and other events. He has sponsored geothermal development economic projects at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. Bob earned a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.B.A. from Texas Southern University, and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law.

"Bob's experience in oil and gas drilling and complex well design will help GreenFire Energy adopt oil and gas industry technology for our advanced GreenLoop technology and more importantly, help oil and gas companies adopt GreenLoop for geothermal power generation and related industrial applications. We are pleased to add Bob's in-depth expertise in upstream oil and gas to our Advisory Board," said Joseph Scherer, chief executive officer of GreenFire Energy.

About GreenFire Energy®

GreenFire Energy® develops and deploys its GreenLoop technology to significantly expand access to geothermal energy for economic power generation and industrial applications. GreenLoop technology harvests previously inaccessible geothermal energy for transport to the earth's surface. GreenLoop's innovative, closed-loop solutions extract renewable energy from the hot dry rock regions that contain most geothermal heat and from unproductive hydrothermal wells. The abundant energy can generate continuous clean power and precisely supply heat and pressure for industrial applications such as mineral extraction. GreenLoop technology includes advanced, proprietary thermodynamic models that are essential for accurate resource assessment and optimal project design.

GreenLoop precisely delivers cost competitive, continuous, flexible geothermal energy with unrivaled environmental advantages. It was successfully demonstrated at the Coso geothermal field in Coso, California, USA in 2019. This technology is the result of years of research conducted in concert with U.S. National Laboratories, major universities, and eminent experts in multiple scientific disciplines in conjunction with grants from the U.S. Department of Energy and the California Energy Commission. GreenFire Energy is headquartered in Emeryville, California, USA. For more information visit www.greenfireenergy.com.
