Free home energy assessments can help customers save energy and improve comfort

Xcel Energy is helping eligible customers find ways to save energy and make their homes more comfortable through free home energy assessments. The assessments provide a simple way to identify energy-saving opportunities that may help lower household energy costs.

The assessments are available to income-qualified customers and tribal members and are completed by trained contractors using tools such as blower doors and infrared cameras. The assessment can help identify air leaks, insulation gaps and other areas where a home may be losing energy.

"Understanding how a home uses and loses energy is an important first step toward making improvements," said Jennifer Nielsen, manager, Energy Efficiency Programs at Xcel Energy. "These assessments give eligible customers helpful information about their homes and opportunities to improve efficiency and comfort."

Tribal members must present a Tribal ID or have received energy assistance during the 2025-2026 heating season. Eligible residents also may qualify for rebates through Focus on Energy and federal home energy rebate programs.

The opportunity is available for qualifying owner-occupied single-family homes, duplexes and triplexes.
