Megger recently donated an oil test set to Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Megger's oil test set, estimated at $9,000, will give students in the Wind Energy Technology program the opportunity to use industry-leading equipment to gain real-world training experience.
Designed to assess mineral, ester and silicon insulating liquids for breakdown up to 60 kV, Megger's range of automatic oil test sets are essential in ensuring the reliable operation of oil filled electrical equipment by monitoring and maintaining oil quality.
Andy Swapp, Wind Energy Technology faculty member at Mesalands, said, "We are truly appreciative of Megger's continued support. The new equipment will enhance our students' hands-on experience in operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of wind turbines, including the College's 1.5 megawatt wind turbine."
Megger has been providing wind energy students at Mesalands with high-quality, electrical testing equipment since 2008. They recently donated a digital low resistance ohmmeter to Mesalands as well.
"It is truly an honor to have such a respected name in the industry partner with Mesalands Community College to help further the knowledge and experiences of our students in the Wind Energy Technology program," said Swapp. "I often wonder how many wind techs just coming out of a training program know what this equipment is, let alone how to use it. It's a very proud moment for us at the College to be able to provide our students with that vital knowledge."
