Gamesa continues to grow in China, having signed new agreements for the supply of 95 MW

October 31, 2016

Gamesa has achieved a new product strategy milestone, namely the introduction of its new G114-2.5 MW turbine into China. Specifically, the company will supply 38 (95 MW) of these turbines to state-owned developer Zhognmin1 at two wind complexes.

Nineteen of these G114-2.5 MW turbines will be installed at the Matoushan facility and another 19 at the Wangmushan development, both of which are located in the province of Fujian. These turbines are custom-designed to withstand the extreme winds typical of this coastal area which is often hit by typhoons. These turbines are due for delivery during the second quarter of 2017 so the project can be commissioned by the first quarter of 2018.

In addition to constituting the début order for the new G114-2.5 MW in China, it is the first order placed by Zhongmin, one of China's most important wind energy developers, thereby adding to Gamesa's already-solid local customer base.

Gamesa's presence in China, where it was the number one non-Chinese OEM by capacity instalments in 2015, dates back 16 years. In total, the company has supplied nearly 4,200 MW in this market to date.
