The Senior Financial Analyst position will be responsible for all aspects of the Department of Energy (DOE) annual reimbursement filing process and litigation support for Nuclear Dry Cask Storage work. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee the financial processes associated with obtaining DOE reimbursement of Nuclear Dry Storage costs

  • Work closely with Nuclear Engineering and the Legal Department on the annual reimbursement submission and the support of litigation activities

  • Develop a strong understanding of the contracts/agreements in place between the company and the DOE related to dry storage reimbursements

  • Create documentation and deliver periodic training to operations personnel to ensure reimbursement opportunities are optimized

  • Maintain charging guidelines and structure to support reimbursement of allowable costs 

  • Review DOE activity monthly and ensure all transactions are captured properly to facilitate future reimbursement

  • Evaluate and identify key drivers of O&M and Capital variances to budget and prior year

  • Prepare analysis to support year-end O&M and capital projections

  • Compile and review all supporting documentation associated with the annual claim and/or litigation filing

  • Prepare the annual DEC filing and submission to DOE

  • Respond to Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) posed by the DOE and/or legal counsel in written or oral format

  • Prepare journal entries for quarterly DOE accruals and for corrections of mischarges

  • Reconcile accounts associated with DOE activity

  • Prepare analysis to support year-end O&M and capital projections

  • Support preparation of financial presentations for management review, cost/status reporting, and decision making as needed

  • Participate as a team member in various special projects or financial studies

Qualifications

Required/Basic Qualifications :

  • BS/BA in Accounting/Finance, Economics, or related discipline
  • Six (6) or more years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of accounting and finance principles, practices, and procedures to complete moderately complex assignments
  • Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft FMIS, Power Plant, etc.) and query tool (Business Objects)
  • Proficient using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Power Point
