Description
Under the direction of Project Engineers and Project Managers, analyze and design electrical circuits and systems, which are incorporated in new product lines for Industrial Inverters/Converters.  Responsible for the analysis of a product development project, using capabilities in the analysis, design, scheduling of tasks, assessment of costs. Analyze tasks, schedule tasks, and be the technical contributor in the cost effective implementation of them, assuming responsibility and accountability for their timely completion.   Responsible for the activities of any non-exempt personnel, including training, input for performance appraisals, promotion recommendations, but not including salary administration.  Participates in generating design specifications for products and directing technician's activities to support execution of those designs.  Analyze malfunctioning electrical and electro-mechanical circuits or systems and assess root cause and subsequent cost effective resolution.  Participate in prototype validation testing and product qualification testing, with respect to schedule and problem resolution for assigned programs.  Responsible for participating in competitive analysis exercises to determine new product requirements.  Develops products utilizing required development processes and process improvement.  Assist manufacturing in the resolution of test and manufacturing issues for products, and to assist field service in the resolution of field application issues with respect to product performance and system design. Interface with customers in equipment conception, testing and start-up.   Complete design and implementation documentation as specified by the Common Development Processes, and associated with the functional process requirements.  Document notes that thoroughly explain conceptual thoughts, conditions, restrictions, analysis, synthesis, and test results that serve as justification for circuit and design and test results.  Understand and practice laboratory procedures for the safe and efficient use of electronic instrumentation, electrical power, rotating electrical machinery, and general laboratory cleanliness.  Ensures thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to standards of business conduct, and trains and motivates subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.  Identify and promote new methodologies and processes to bring efficiency to the development process.  Create library models of active front end rectifiers and inverters for use by application engineering and for external customer use. This also requires creation of model library user guide.

Minimum Qualifications

Required: Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering and three (3) years of experience as an Engineer.  In lieu of a Master's degree and three years of experience, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience as an Engineer.  As part of the experience being required, applicants must have had: experience with engineering tools, including Simplorer, ANSYS Maxwell/Q3D, Matlab and Simulink; experience in analyzing EMC susceptibility and emissions from power conversion products; experience with electrical power devices, including IGBTs, Switch Mode Power Supplies, Bus Structures and Power Capacitors; technical leadership experience in electrical engineering and power electronics; experience in leading a  cross functional team consisting of Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians; experience with the control principal of grid tie converter and/or active front end rectifier design; experience with the control principal of adjustable speed drive and power converter designs; experience in complex system level simulation and analysis of multiple adjustable speed drives and their associated application issues and solutions; experience in creating library models of active front end rectifiers and inverters for use by application engineering and for external customer use, including the creation of model library user guide; and experience with electrical and electro-mechanical circuits and systems in all three of the disciplines of analog, digital, and power using simulation tools and procedures.
