The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting job opportunity as a Technical Service Technologist on the Dow Coating Materials Production Services team in the Technical Service department in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.  The role includes design of experiments, analysis and communication of application results to support plant operations. The role also qualifies raw materials, process changes and optimizations, and supports investigations of root causes of customer quality complaints.

Applicants for this position should have a track record of excellent problem solving, documentation and communication skills.  Good team working skills, attention to safety and details and the ability to produce quality results are required.  Appropriate training and supervision will be provided, as needed, for this position. 

Core Responsibilities:

Work with NAR emulsion network, Technical Service and Development (TS&D) and Advanced Polymer Process Technology for designing, running and analyzing experiments and then communicating results to key stakeholders.  The candidate will also be responsible for laboratory safety processes and initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  •  Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Good interpersonal skills are required. 
  •  Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
  •  Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
  •  A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
  •  Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  •  Must be able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  •  Must be able to willing and able to work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as respirators, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes. 
  •  Must be able to willing and able to work in such environments with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  •  Must be able to willing and able to work in such environments working in tight or closed-in spaces.
  •  Must be willing and able to climb stairs/ladders and working high off the ground.
  •  Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.  
  •  A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Problem analysis and troubleshooting experience.
  •  Prior coating material experience.
  •  3 or more years applications experience preferred.

Education:

 A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. 
 Associate's degree in relevant field(Engineering, Chemical Technology, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, etc )/4+ years military experience is required.
 Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Engineering, Chemical Technology, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, etc) is preferred.
