Responsibilities

We have a great opportunity for a Material Handler II  to join our dynamic, newly expanded logistics group.  The primary responsibility of this position is to support manufacturing operations and other internal customers through advanced material handling techniques, all while providing superior customer service.

Specific duties include:

  • Performs the physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of materials, parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Unloads goods, visually compares goods to packing list, receives against purchase orders, maintains records of received goods and rejects unsatisfactory items.
  • Ensures accuracy of shipments, timely delivery of all shipments and resolves discrepancies according to procedures.
  • Packages and ships outgoing materials according to legal specifications, including shipping documentation and oversight of internal and external transporters.
  • Communicates routinely with customers regarding availability of stock and establishes material routing priorities.
  • Moves heavy items using a forklift or other material handling equipment.
  • Inspects, distributes and stocks materials in inventory warehouse, distribution center and on manufacturing lines.
  • Performs inventory control duties, including cycle counts and physical inventory.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

Education:   High School Diploma or GED required.

Certifications/Licenses: 

  • Valid Driver's license is required (CDL not required).
  • Ability to acquire and maintain forklift certification (company provided).
  • Ability to acquire and maintain HAZMAT certification (company provided).

Experience/Skills:  2-4 year's relevant experience.  Previous material handling/shipping and receiving experience in a high volume and multi-shift manufacturing environment preferred.   Prior forklift operating experience preferred. 

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to work when needed and be flexible with daily start/end times to meet the needs of the department.
  • Ability to work overtime including holidays & weekends as needed, including being on call to provide 24/7 service.
  • Ability to climb ladders and utilize mechanical man-lifts.
  • Knowledge of receiving, warehouse and material handling operations, methods and practices including reading, analyzing and interpreting written instructions.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, material handling software (ERP or other) and knowledge of shipping software (UPS/FedEx) desired.
  • Knowledge of Bar Code technology and Electronic Data Interchange a plus.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all customers, both internally and externally.
  • Qualities that promote teamwork.
  • Flexibility to perform a variety of duties as the need arises.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Regularly works in a Warehouse environment and operate in a manufacturing environment.
  • Routinely works in and moves throughout a 70,000+ sq. ft. plant and on the outside grounds to perform various tasks.
  • Works both in climate controlled and uncontrolled environments.
  • Be able and willing to wear required personal protective equipment as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats and other PPE as required.
  • Frequently required to lift, push, pull and place manufacturing materials which have a weight of 25 to 50 lbs. with or without assistance. Heavy lifting of up to 2500 lbs. with a forklift or other material handling equipment.
  • Routinely performs tasks that require full range of motion with both hands/arms. Motions include circular, up and down, back and forth, side to side and overhead.
  • Works with and around chemicals, including but not limited to nickel based compounds, adhesives and solvents.
  • Routinely on feet and required to move from area to area within the warehouse for a period of eight (8) hours with designated breaks.
