Description

Among them is S&C's line of Metal-Enclosed Switchgear products.  In this job, you will report to the Manager - Custom Engineering - Metal-Enclosed Switchgear.  Your primary responsibilities will be the CAD design of components and assemblies that make up the various product lines within Metal-Enclosed Switchgear, including PMX Switchgear, System VI Switchgear and Custom Metal-Enclosed Switchgear.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Using 3-D modeling software to develop new parts and assemblies (primarily sheet steel).
  • Working with engineers and product specialists in the development of custom features for existing products.
  • Creating and maintaining mechanical designs and engineering documents associated with existing and new products, being responsible for mechanical functionality of assigned projects.
  • Preparing detailed drawings used for purposes of customer approval, manufacturing, and final assembly.
  • Working within a team environment including interacting with other design professionals and members of the sales services, production control and assembly groups
  • Troubleshooting complex shop problems and developing solutions to design issues.
Requirements

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • A two-year degree in design or mechanical engineering technology or the equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of CAD systems, specifically 3D modeling, preferably SolidEdge
  • General knowledge of design, manufacturing and creating 3D models, preferably with sheet metal
  • Good PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.   Experience with MS Access a plus.
  • General knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Very good communications and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Standing: Occasional standing when working with or supporting production manufacturing related processes.
  • Lifting: Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds when working with or supporting production manufacturing related processes.
  • Walking: Occasional walking up to 1 mile within the company facility.
  • Carrying: Occasional carrying of equipment when working with or supporting product manufacturing related processes.
  • Pushing: Occasional pushing of equipment when working with or supporting product manufacturing related processes.
  • Pulling: Occasional pulling of equipment when working with or supporting product manufacturing related processes.
  • Bending: Occasional bending when working with or supporting product manufacturing related processes.
  • Reaching: Occasional reaching for equipment when working with or supporting product manufacturing related processes.
  • Handling: Occasional handling of equipment when working with or supporting product manufacturing related processes.
  • Environment: Physical demands are those mostly associated with a regular office environment.
