Position Description

To supervise low voltage construction and all inside wiring jobs as well as supervising supplemental workforces with sister companies.  Develops project proposals for customers.  Develops customer relationships and markets the company for sales growth.  Maintains records for billing, inventory control, vehicle maintenance and employee time sheets.  Maintains liaison with other departments to insure all required materials, equipment and inspections support the project schedule.  Ensures profit margin, sales per employee ratio, safety targets and other goals are met.  Assists Superintendent of Operations managing relationships with Local Unions and helps General Foreman manage workforce relationships.  Promotes a safe working environment and adherence to Company policies.   

Position-Related Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises and leads the Company's General Foremen in the overall management of the skilled workforce including adherence to contract provisions, Company policies, safety requirements, customer service skills and technical skills. 
  • Disseminates Company and departmental objectives to all Low Voltage and Supplemental Workforce business units and develops consistent specific section objectives, including written objectives for direct reports, profit targets and safety objectives.
  • Ensures that electrical system designs meet all necessary code requirements from NEC, and other standard organizations.  Assists in the development of proposals in response to RFP's or customer work requests, including project design, workforce and resource allocation. 
  • Prepares annual capital and operating budgets for responsible business units.  Reviews budget variances on a monthly basis and initiates budgetary control action as necessary.
  • Responsible for the procurement, maintenance and repair of vehicles, tools and equipment.  Responsible for tracking inventory, materials and supplies, time sheets and other general information required by office staff. 
  • Responsible for the safety of assigned personnel.  Assures adherence to safe work practices, SES standards and operating procedures, OSHA, MSHA, NEC, DOT and other Federal, State and local codes and regulations.  Changes Company safety manual as necessary for continued improvement in safety standards and practices.
  • Interprets the labor agreements on disputed matters, processes written labor grievances and advises and monitors assigned supervisory personnel in their administration of the labor agreements.
  • Requires good communication skills to coordinate jobs with General Foremen, customers and office personnel.
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Management Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Company's management principles, policies and programs are consistently practiced and continually support the Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Assume fiduciary responsibility for operating the business and provide recommendations on cost improvement measures.
  • Ensure that the Performance Management program is administered uniformly and effectively.
  • Comply with and administer the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement when applicable.
  • Administers personnel functions, including recruiting, review and approval of job descriptions and salary classifications, and selection and placement of personnel.  Participates in hiring, termination, promoting, assignment and direction of staff.  Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws, regulations and standards, company policies, practices and ethical obligations to investigate, evaluate and recommend appropriate resolution to employee complaints.
  • Promotes and participates in the professional development, personal growth and career planning of staff.  Motivate, recognize and reward, coach, counsel, train; provide feedback to employees during performance reviews.   Participates in Leadership Development programs.
  • Addresses disciplinary and/or performance issues, according to company policy, and communicates effectively with employees regarding corrective action. Has input into the adjustment of grievances and administration of discipline.
  • Plans day-to-day operations, estimates personnel needs and schedules and assigns work.  Evaluate the structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group.
