POWER Engineers is currently seeking an experienced, energetic, self-starting team member with a civil engineering background to perform engineering design activities for electrical substations. This is a Civil Engineer II level position in the Substation Department of our Power Delivery Division in Portland, Oregon.
Responsibilities
- All aspects of civil engineering including structural and foundation design, permitting support, site layout, grading design, stormwater analysis, survey coordination, and civil construction inspection.
- Development of civil construction specifications, drawings, and calculations.
- Occasional travel will be required.
Education/Experience
- BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).
- 3 to 5 years experience in civil engineering.
- The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
Desired Education/Experience
- Ideal coursework includes concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics, foundation design, surveying, hydraulics, hydrology, and urban hydrology.
- Previous engineering design or drafting experience (1 to 3 years) is preferred, but not required.
- AutoCAD 2015, Civil 3D, or MicroStation V8i & InRoads familiarity is a plus.
- Site development experience, including erosion control design.
- Ability to perform basic stormwater calculations to size culverts, ditches, and stormwater retention/detention facilities using stormwater modeling software.
