Corix Utilities has immediate career opportunities for a Water Meter Installer to carry out water meter installation on a 9 month meter project in the City of Weyburn, Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of water meters. We are looking for self-starters who have the ability to work with limited supervision, have a good understanding of most hand tools and be mechanically inclined.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Directs and supervises staff, participating in recruitment, selection, orientation, training and evaluation of employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities
  • Supervise the work of water meter technicians to ensure meter exchanges are being performed according to the company's standard operating procedures
  • Proactively resolve customer complaints and respond to customer's questions according to Corix policies and procedures in a timely manner
  • Perform audits and inspections to ensure safety standards and quality are being maintained and correct any errors or problems that are observed
  • Trains and guides water meter technicians in the interpretation and communication of work procedures and company policies
  • Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings
  • Performs plumbing repairs, water meter changes, and radio installations as required
  • Performs the daily downloading of information onto handheld units used by the field technicians
  • Prepares daily, weekly and monthly reports as required.
  • Manages site inventory and project site
  • Conducts quality audits as required
  • Implements corporate and departmental policies, procedures, and service standards in conjunction with management
  • Performs other related duties as required
Requirements

Qualifications :

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Must be a qualified Journeyman Plumber, or experienced Utility Operator with minimum Level II in Water

Distribution and 5 years' experience.

  • Previous supervisory experience an asset.
  • Meter/AMI/AMR experience an asset
  • Experience using and troubleshooting handheld devices an asset
  • Ability to teach others.
  • Ability to lead and mentor staff.
  • Ability to manage one's time and the time of others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be flexible with working a variety of shifts including occasional evenings.
  • Valid driver's license and meet the minimum company driving record requirements.
  • Successfully pass Criminal Background checks.
