Description
EPCOR Water Services is currently looking to fill one (1) full-time permanent Operator III position based at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Regina, SK.

The Operator III is accountable for performing high level Operations functions at the Regina Wastewater Treatment Plant. This includes both ensuring water quality exceeds requirements and achieving the required outlook and shift planning.

Reporting to the Operations Manager or designate, the Operator III is accountable for, but not limited to:

  • Directing operators on the crew and monitoring plant performance and equipment.
  • Implementing best operational practices within the operations team.
  • Providing input to the Operations business plans and directions.
  • Performing operator duties and recording quality operational records.
  • Making decisions regarding plant isolations, plant operations, and performance to meet or exceed conditions of the Contract requirements and the Regulatory Requirements.
  • Performing field tests for troubleshooting and implementing process improvements.
  • Reviewing computerized operating and laboratory data.
  • Performing Lead Hand duties and responsibilities when the Lead Hand is not available.
  • Working with the Maintenance team to ensure that the Plant is maintained properly.
  • Ensuring working procedures are performed in compliance with Company safety standards and ISO 14001 standards.
  • The incumbent will be part of an On-Call rotation, which will result in after-hours callouts.
  • Other duties as required.
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must possess a minimum valid Level III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate. (If the incumbent does not possess a Level III, it is required that a Level III be obtained within a year of the date of hire.)
  • 5+ years of previous experience in a wastewater treatment plant required.
  • Must have a valid Class 3A driver's license or able to obtain a Class 3A driver's license within 3 months of date of hire. (with 6 demerits or less). A Driver Abstract will be required.
  • Shift Work is required.
  • Must have a 5th class boilerman (Fireman's) certificate or be able to obtain one within 1 year of the date of hire.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in applicable computer process software applications, including
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous experience with asset management software and SCADA control systems will be considered an asset.
  • Working understanding of biological systems and Wastewater Plant Operations.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing will be required. Clearance on a security background check is required.
  • The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate excellent leadership and customer service skills in order to ensure client satisfaction and maintain positive relationships with both internal & external stakeholders. The candidate's customer service orientation will be supplemented with highly developed oral and written communication skills, keen attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy.

This position requires excellent planning and organization skills as well as the ability to apply knowledge and problem-solving skills in a timely manner to respond to issues. Our best candidate will work effectively within a team dynamic as well as with minimal supervision.

Please note the following information:

  • A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
  • If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law.  These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
  • A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
  • To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.

Class: 2103

Wage: $35.92 per hour.

Hours of work: 80 hours bi-weekly.
