Job Summary:

  •  Plans and directs, and coordinates metal finishing processes by performing the following duties. 

 Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves metal finishing methods
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process problems and assignments relating to the plating process and/or methods.
  • Provide support and required documentation for all metal finishing operations including waste treatment equipment and/or processes.
  • Maintain hazardous waste and other environmental documentation in conjunction with the plating manager.
  • Complete and maintain files for necessary forms, reports, etc., in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Responsible for compliance with local state and federal rules, regulations, and statutes relating to hazardous materials. Hazmat transportation and manifests, industrial waste treatment.
Requirements

Skills & Experience:

  • BS Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or CEF (Certified Electro Finisher); and two to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Environmental education preferred.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    • 40 Hour Emergency Response Training required due to hazards associate with chemical handling and hazardous waste handling in the facility.  Required by 29 CFR 1910.120.
    • Hazardous Waste Operations training required by 29 CFR 265.16
    • Hazardous Waste Operations training required by 40 CFR 265.16
