Description

Manage multiple injection crews at one or more customer locations.   This position is responsible for managing a team of employees, and for the day to day operations of a business group to ensure employees are working toward a common goal, remaining productive and avoiding conflict. From time-to-time, this position may fill in as a Team Lead or Regional Operations Manager.

Craftwork (up to 5%)

  • Perform cable testing and analysis
  • Use TDR waveform and RF locating equipment
  • Locate cable paths
  • Perform air flow tests
  • Prepare cable for injection activities
  • Inject cables using sustained and un-sustained technologies
  • Inject feeder cable
  • Switch medium voltage electrical circuits
  • Perform electrical craftwork according to quality standards
  • Write and implement cable switching orders, manage switching contact with circuit owner

Project Management (up to 45%)

  • Identify out-of-scope work to get change-orders written and executed
  • Organize regular meetings with staff and management to discuss business updates, issues and opportunities
  • Transition project management and injection activities from planning to completion phase
  • Responsible for site safety during the contracting and start up phases
  • Uphold and communicate Novinium safety standards
  • Assess site safety and implement actions to prevent injury to property and personnel
  • Ensure safety compliance of subcontractors and all on-site personnel
  • Review subcontractor billing
  • Prepare client and subcontractor change orders
  • Maintain rolling stock and equipment
  •  Control travel expenditures direct reports
  • Coordinate injection and digging activities (Competency in excavation certification)
  • Provide field service and set up
  • Job planning, hazard avoidance, and recording daily work records
  • Perform inventory control (initial ordering, re-ordering supplies, and quarterly/monthly inventory counts) on crew assigned materials
  • Evaluate existing business procedures and recommend improvements
  • Oversee project activities, functions and resource use
  • Develop project staffing plans to include labor, subcontractors, etc.
  • Identify required resources to implement project strategies and achieve project goals
  • Submit staffing requirements and assure requirements are fulfilled
  • Deploy company resources to achieve or improve on Novinium goals
  • Conduct and facilitate regular area meetings and administrative duties
  • Oversee quality and service of direct reports assigned to them
  • Oversee quality and service of Contractors working at their sites
  • Evaluate and write performance reviews of assigned direct reports
  • Approve time sheets for subcontractors and direct reports
  • Assign and/or realign work tasks, direct work flow and approve work done by subcontractors
  • Take corrective action to resolve employee disputes and productivity issues
  • Interview, participate in the hiring process and train new employees
  • Prepare and deliver employee development plans
  • Responsible for the development of injection techs or linemen for higher roles (Team Lead)
  • Act as steward of Novinium culture; communicate and influence policies and procedures
  • Manage activities of subcontractors
  • Utilize Novalytics to assure optimum crew performance

Financial Management (up to 15%)

  • Work with the Regional Operations Manager to attain and manage direct margins
  • Review weekly dashboards to ensure crews are achieving forecast amounts
  • Control crew expenses such as labor, hotel, airline and rental car costs
  • Review crew billing on the Weekly Revenue Report
  • Identify and correct data input errors prior to submitting to Accounting
  • Understand subcontractor contracts to verify the work and ensure invoices are correct
  • Review and approve invoices for customers and subcontractors
  • Understand the customer contract, the current purchase order amount and ensure all monies are allocated correctly
  • Ensure all billable items are entered into Knomentous in an accurate and timely manner

Customer Relations (up to 30%)

  • Provide positive customer service
  • Address customer issues and queries in an accurate and timely manner
  • Resolve customer issues to mutual satisfaction
  • Grow the customer relationship by actively engaging the customer at multiple organizational levels in cooperation with operational and sales executives
Requirements
  • Understanding of basic construction skills
  • Ability to read maps and plans
  • Intermediate level proficiency with/in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, internet/web)
  • Ability to learn and use Novinium Project Management Software and other management tools

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Experience managing others required
  • Prior construction experience in diverse industries
  • Able to deliver training at the field level

 WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Approximately 65% travel
  • Able to lift, push, pull and carry at least 75 lbs. for a distance of 300 feet
  • Able to stand, kneel and work in confined spaces for an extended period of time
  • Must conduct digging operations as required
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Working conditions may vary upon assignment, and may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions
